Every Monday

By 7:00 am, Please place outside no more than 3 containers (or bags) weighing 35 pounds or less every collection day. If you have a concern with your trash pickup, please contact the office before 2pm on pickup days.

All businesses are collected on Thursdays, except holidays.

Recycling Guidelines

Aluminum Cans:Empty and rinse cans. No food residue. Keep separate from tin. Crushing is optional but saves space.
Clear Glass:Food and beverage bottles & jars only. Keep clear glass separate from colored. Remove lids and rings. Rinse
well. No food residue. Labels can remain.
Corrugated Cardboard:Flatten boxes & keep dry. Remove all plastic wrap and packing material such as Styrofoam, foam peanuts, air
pillows, etc. No paperboard such as cereal/tissue boxes. No waxy or greasy cardboard.
Commercial Cardboard Recycling:COMMERCIAL CARDBOARD RECYCLING is available for NTSWA trash customers only. Businesses
must contact NTSWA to signup for collection. Collections follow the schedule above.
Mixed Paper:Includes junk mall, magazines, catalogs, newspaper, paperback books, colored paper, shredded paper. Keeр
dry. Do not bundle, bag or tie.
Plastic Bottles, Jugs, Jars, Tubs:Recycle only bottles, jugs, jars & tubs. Includes water & soda bottles, laundry and milk jugs, shampoo bottles,
yogurt container, butter tubs. Empty and rinse. No food residue. Lids can remain. Crush to save space. * Bagging plastics for curbside collection is acceptable*

No black plastic, No flower pots, No clam shells, No plastic bags, No oil containers, No Styrofoam
Steel/”Tin” Cans:Rinse and secure lids inside. No food residue. Keep separate from aluminum. Labels can remain.

MATERIALS MUST BE SORTED BY CATEGORY WITHIN YOUR CURBSIDE BIN BY USING BAGS, DIVIDERS, OR SEPARATE BINS FOR EACH MATERIAL. MATERIALS NOT PROPERLY PREPARED WILL BE LEFT AT THE CURB!

Elkland Borough requires that occupants of all residences and businesses place all waste in plastic bags or approved containers not weighing in excess of 35 pounds. Any garbage that cannot be placed in bags must be in boxes or bundles that are securely bound and do not exceed 4 feet in length or 2 feet wide. NTSWA will collect 3 bags or parcels from each resident. Bags or parcels over this limit need to be tagged with a NTSWA refuse sticker.
